Kuwait strongly condemned

Kuwait strongly condemned and denounced statements issued by the military spokesperson of the Houthi militia containing allegations against Saudi Arabia and threats targeting maritime security and freedom of navigation.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to ensure the implementation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2216 on Yemen and Resolution 2722 on rights and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.

The ministry reaffirmed that freedom of navigation in international waterways is a right guaranteed under international law and the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

It also reiterated Kuwait’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its security and sovereignty, stressing that Saudi Arabia’s security is an integral part of the security of Kuwait and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states.
