Russia: Ukraine’s Strike on Caspian Sea Vessel Was ‘An Attack on Iran’

The Kremlin has declared that Ukraine’s reported strike on a vessel in the Caspian Sea should be regarded as an attack on Iran, accusing Kyiv of expanding the scope of the conflict.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the vessel was an Iranian merchant ship, adding that the incident underscores what Moscow described as the need to eliminate the “threat” posed by Ukraine.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the attack, stating that one sailor was killed and another injured in the explosion. Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the targeted vessels were involved in transporting military cargo linked to Iran.
