BREAKING: Somalia and Kenya Hold High-Level Talks in Addis Ababa Following Diplomatic Dispute
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdisalam Abdi Ali (Dhaay), held an urgent bilateral meeting with Kenya’s Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Musalia Mudavadi, on the sidelines of the 49th Ordinary Session of the African Union Executive Council in Addis Ababa.
The meeting came amid recent diplomatic tensions between the two neighboring countries, including the controversy surrounding the return of government ministers.
According to both sides, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations, improving cooperation on migration and consular affairs, and facilitating the movement of citizens between Somalia and Kenya.
The two ministers also reaffirmed their shared commitment to enhancing cooperation on peace, security, regional stability, and economic partnership, emphasizing the importance of maintaining strong diplomatic ties for the benefit of both nations and the wider East African region.
